Head of Financial Reporting & Partnership Accounting

At VWV, we're proud to combine the professionalism of a top-tier law firm with a down-to-earth, collaborative culture. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we believe in empowering them to make a difference. We're now looking for a strategic and hands-on finance leader to take on the role of Head of Financial Reporting & Partnership Accounting. This is a key leadership role within our Finance team in Bristol, offering the opportunity to make a real impact on the firm's financial strategy, operations and growth journey.

About The Role

As Head of Financial Reporting & Partnership Accounting, you will be responsible for safeguarding the firm's financial health, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivering accurate internal and external reporting. You'll oversee the entire balance sheet for the firm and its subsidiaries, manage our treasury, cashflow and capital requirements, and take the lead on all aspects of partner accounting including profit share, tax provisioning and drawings.

You'll be at the forefront of our financial governance, driving process improvements and helping to embed best-in-class systems and controls. You'll also manage the production of monthly internal accounts and lead the delivery of our annual statutory accounts and consolidated financial statements. On top of that, you'll take ownership of strategic cashflow forecasting and liquidity planning, ensuring we're well-positioned to meet future needs.

This role involves close collaboration with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You'll work closely with our Finance Director, the Finance Leadership Team, external auditors, tax advisors and banking partners. You'll also play a central role in supporting investment decisions, strategic planning and integration projects.

Managing and developing your team is a core part of the role. You'll lead, coach and inspire a group of finance professionals, ensuring they are supported, well-trained, and aligned with our wider goals. You'll help us continue to build a high-performing and respected Finance function that is valued across the business.

About You

You're a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with at least 10 years' post-qualification experience and a solid track record in senior financial leadership roles. You understand the importance of robust governance, but you also know how to balance control with pragmatism. Ideally, you'll bring experience from the legal sector or wider professional services, with a clear understanding of partner accounting in an LLP environment.

You're someone who thrives on complexity, enjoys problem-solving, and can confidently lead others through change. You're well-versed in UK GAAP, tax compliance, and financial regulations, and you know what best-in-class financial operations look like. You've led audits, delivered consolidated financial statements, managed treasury functions, and supported strategic business cases. You're also familiar with tools like PMS systems and advanced Excel functionality.

Just as importantly, you're a natural relationship builder who can engage confidently with people at all levels. You take pride in developing others, are highly organised, detail-focused, and bring a proactive, solutions-driven approach to your work. You'll bring credibility and clarity to everything you do, while helping shape the financial direction of the firm.
