Business Development Manager

As our firm continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced and commercially focused Business Development Manager to support the firm's strategic growth objectives and play a key role in strengthening client relationships, developing new business opportunities and increasing market engagement across the firm.

This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking Business Development team, working closely with partners and senior stakeholders across the business.

As a Business Development Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting the firm's strategic growth through a mix of new business development, client relationship management, cross-selling and wider market engagement activity.

Working closely with partners, legal teams and colleagues across marketing and business development, you'll help identify growth opportunities across both new and existing clients, strengthen key client relationships, and support the development of targeted sector and service line initiatives.

This role is ideal for an experienced business development professional who is commercially minded, proactive and confident building trusted relationships both internally and externally. You'll be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, spotting opportunities for collaboration across the firm and helping to drive sustainable revenue growth.

Day to day, you'll:

  • Identify and support growth opportunities across sectors, services and key clients
  • Develop and maintain targeted business development and key account plans
  • Support pitches, proposals and other new business opportunities
  • Maintain pipeline information and contribute to reporting on activity and outcomes
  • Build relationships with intermediaries, referrers and key external contacts
  • Attend events and networking opportunities to raise profile and stay close to market trends

You'll support activity across the firm's sectors, products, VWV Approach network and wider strategic initiatives, helping to enhance client engagement, deepen relationships and increase market visibility.

So Who Are We Hoping Will Apply?

We're looking for an experienced and relationship-focused Business Development professional with a proven track record of supporting business growth and building strong client relationships.

You'll have experience in a business development or sales-focused role, ideally within a legal or professional services environment, although this isn't essential.

You'll be confident working with senior stakeholders and able to build credibility quickly across different teams and functions, with strong communication skills, commercial awareness and a collaborative approach.

We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Experience in business development, sales or client relationship management
  • A track record of identifying and converting new business opportunities
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills
  • Experience of managing pipelines and reporting activity
  • Strong communication and commercial awareness

Experience within professional services is essential, and/or legal is desirable.

A bachelor's degree in Business Management, Sales & Marketing or a related field would also be an advantage.

You may already be working in a Business Development role within a legal or professional services firm, or you may have built strong commercial and relationship management experience in another professional environment and be looking for your next step.

Either way, this role suits someone who enjoys building relationships, spotting opportunities, working collaboratively and contributing to strategic growth in a supportive and professional environment.

This role can be based in London, Watford, Birmingham or Bristol. We're open to hiring in any of these office locations depending on candidate fit and team alignment.
