Commercial Associate
Feeling undervalued and can't see any prospects of progression? Becoming a small cog in an increasingly big wheel? Leave those frustrations behind and join a firm that values the contribution of each and every individual…a firm where you can finally be yourself.
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced commercial lawyer with around 5 or more years pqe to join our stellar team in Birmingham. The role will suit someone looking at Senior Associate or even Legal Director level. You're working at a level where you need relatively little supervision and are excited about a role that doesn't involve politics, dynamics or any other unwanted distractions. Put simply, we offer excellent quality work within a grown-up and supportive environment.
The Role
The most striking feature of our commercial team is its breadth. From general commercial agreements, manufacturing and pharmaceutical work, through to IP, technology, data protection, healthcare, education and charities work, the key word here is "variety". You'll have the opportunity to undertake work for both public and private sector clients and, with our education, healthcare and IP offerings being consistently recognised in Chambers, you'll often find yourself working on high profile matters.
Our Birmingham team is warm and welcoming and with particular expertise in IP and technology, we're looking for someone to complement our practice, ideally with some experience in these areas as well as general commercial work.
About us
As a Top 100 UK law firm, we're renowned not just for the quality of our work, but just as importantly to us, for the quality of our people. With four offices in Birmingham, Bristol, London and Watford, you'll be struck by our close-knit and friendly culture. We believe in integrity and authenticity- in each one of us being ourselves both in our interactions with each other as well as with our clients. If this sounds like the sort of firm where you could be happy, then please get in touch.
Where will I be working?
At VWV we have a truly unique and engaging culture. We work hard but we also love to have fun and we recognise that it's the social interaction between us that really embeds our culture. Although recent times have proved we can work effectively as a business from home, we're currently working to a hybrid model of both office and home working.
Whilst it's your enthusiasm that for us is key, we'd like you to work from our Birmingham office for at least part of the week. In this way, you'll benefit first-hand from our warm and friendly culture that no advert can do justice. We're of course happy to discuss any specific requirements for hybrid working with candidates on an individual basis.
Why choose us?
There are so many reasons to stop and explore VWV further. We're known for our friendly and welcoming culture where teamwork and collaboration are key. There's no pigeon-holing or glass ceilings here, just a professional yet relaxed culture where you can be yourself. We invite you to watch this short video on the right-hand side to see what our own people have to say about us.
We're striving to be an inclusive employer, to create a workplace and environment that promotes and values diversity, where everyone, regardless of background, can reach their full potential. Please contact us to discuss any adjustments needed so we can make this the best possible candidate experience for you.
Not sure whether to apply?
Whilst we're renowned for our transparent and welcoming culture, we know that making the next career move can be daunting. We've all been there! It's more than likely you'll have one or two questions on the role or firm before you feel happy to apply. If so, please contact me, Jannica Seccombe, Lawyer Resourcing Lead, in complete confidence on 07500 109783 or jseccombe@vwv.co.uk and I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
