    Full Time

Commercial Lawyer

Our commercial solicitors provide legal expertise in a variety of specialisms (including IP, IT, procurement, information law and commercial contracts) in a variety of sectors (including the education, technology, health, energy and public sectors).  They support and add value to our clients' negotiations because they understand the complicated issues facing our clients.

In response to a high volume of new work streams Commercial Partner and Department Head, Doug Locke, is looking to bolster our commercial team by recruiting an additional commercial lawyer.  It's a national team so location is secondary to our needs meaning this role can be based from any of our office locations.

Could this be your next career move?

You'll be providing pragmatic advice alongside drafting and negotiating commercial contracts across a range of sectors.  You'll develop strong client relationships and play an active part in the pricing and scoping of work.  You'll develop your personal profile within the firm and contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives.  They'll be a supervision element to this role as you support the wider team by recognising not just your own training needs but identifying those of the team also.  You'll contribute to business development and networking to help introduce new business to the firm.  And as the team continues to grow, you'll play an active role in recruitment to help bring further talent into the firm.

Why choose us?

With around 450 employees, we're a sizeable firm that continues to grow, known for its friendly and welcoming culture where teamwork and collaboration is key.  Watch this short video to see what our people have to say about us.

We offer a competitive salary, holiday allowance that increases after 12 months with the firm, contributions to your pension pot, an informal dress code which allows you to dress appropriately for your day no matter what day it is, private healthcare and life assurance, as well as a range of discounts with local businesses. And with so many excellent internal training programmes on offer to everyone it's so easy to develop and improve your skills.

We're passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. We're striving to create an environment where everyone, regardless of background, can reach their full potential.

Where will I be working?

Prior to the pandemic, we'd made a commitment to our approach in respect of flexible working requests, being open to new ways of working that enabled everyone to work more effectively.  Our people are currently increasing their time working from the offices, where our lovely culture is clear to see.  We work hard but we also have fun, and we've missed that social interaction with each other that really embeds that culture.  We have virtual meeting capability so we can stay in close contact across the offices or when working from home.

Whilst there'll be some requirement to work from the office, our flexible and agile approach means that we're happy to discuss hybrid working arrangements with candidates on an individual basis.

About you

We'd love to see an application from a strong commercial lawyer with at least two years' post qualification experience gained at a leading commercial practice, and any familiarity you have with either IT contracts, IP, procurement or data protection, whilst only desirable, will make your application of particular interest.  You may have significantly more experience than two years and that's great too as it's not your PQE level that matters to us.  What matters is your ability to identify relevant commercial legal issues alongside developing strong client relationships that stand the test of time.  Also important will be your passion for supervision and performance management which will make you proud to promote the expertise of the team.
