Family Senior Associate
Here at VWV, our family law offering lies at the very heart of our firm. Our ongoing success in winning new instructions finds us looking to expand our thriving practice with a bright and proactive family lawyer with around 6 years or more post qualified experience.
About us
Whilst we're a sizeable firm with four offices in Bristol, Birmingham, London and Watford, the first thing you'll notice about us is our close-knit and friendly culture. We're not like other firms. We genuinely believe in "being genuine" both in the way we interact with each other and with our clients. That means you'll join a team, a department and a wider firm with no airs and graces or arrogance. We're a collective group of individuals each with our own unique personality, working together to deliver the very best advice to our clients, in a language we can all understand.
The role
Our current opportunity is for a senior associate level family lawyer with a broad range of high quality family and matrimonial law expertise. You're most likely looking for a step up the ladder and the opportunity to enjoy a broad range of work rather than being pigeon holed in one or two areas. It would be helpful for us if you have good exposure to supervising more junior lawyers and strong commercial nous to help manage workflow within the team.
Headed up by our Partner, Samantha Hickman (Bristol based), and sitting within our wider private client department, the most striking feature of our family offering is two-fold: quality and breadth of work. Our inclusive and open culture means that all the lawyers in our family team are able to undertake the full range of work types such as divorce/separation, private children law and finances In working closely with our private client team, you'll find yourself able to benefit from cross - referrals. With many of our instructions being high net worth in nature, you'll sometimes find yourself working on complex and even high profile instructions.
Our small Birmingham team is headed up by our Partner, Lucy Barr and you'll find yourself enjoying a close-knit working relationship with your three Birmingham based colleagues as well as the wider team in Bristol. We're such a cohesive group that you'll relish the way we work as one team, regardless of location or level of qualification. In this way, we live and breathe one of our core values here at VWV- collaborative working. This leads to a happy, supportive and open working environment where you can really enjoy your role.
Where will I be working?
At VWV we have a truly unique and engaging culture that we hold dear. We work hard but we also love to have fun and we recognise that it's the social interaction between us that really embeds our culture. Whilst this unusual time has proved we can work effectively as a business from home, we're currently working to a hybrid model of office and home working.
Whilst it's your experience and enthusiasm that are the most important factors, with this role we would like you to work from our Birmingham office for at least part of the week. In this way, you will be able to benefit first-hand from our warm and friendly culture that no advert can do justice! We are of course happy to discuss any specific requirements of hybrid working with candidates on an individual basis.
Why choose us?
With around 500 employees, we're a sizeable firm that continues to grow. We're known for our friendly and welcoming culture where teamwork and collaboration is key. There's no pigeon-holing or glass ceilings here, just a professional yet relaxed culture where you can finally be yourself. We invite you to watch this short video on the right hand side to see what our own people have to say about us.
Here at VWV, we can offer an exciting array of benefits and are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. We're striving to create an environment where everyone, regardless of background, can reach their full potential.
Not sure whether to apply?
