Legal Assistant (Charities)

Are you ready to make a difference in the charity and voluntary sector while working with one of the UK's leading law firms? At VWV, we're looking for a proactive and passionate Legal Assistant to join our nationally recognised Charities Team in either Bristol or Birmingham.

About the Opportunity

At VWV, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Diversity, collaboration, and a dedication to excellence are at the heart of everything we do. Our Charities Team is highly regarded, with recognition from Chambers and Partners, Legal500, and Charity Finance, which ranks us 3rd among firms supporting the top 350 charities. Our clients span education, health and social care, the faith sector, and other fascinating areas of work, making this an exciting opportunity to engage in meaningful projects that truly make an impact.

As a Legal Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting the efficient operation of our Charities Team. You'll work closely with lawyers to produce high-quality documents and correspondence, ensuring all work adheres to the firm's standards. Your responsibilities will include managing applications with Companies House and the Charity Commission, preparing documents for electronic signing, taking detailed meeting notes, and ensuring accurate filing and record-keeping.

While you'll gain great insight into the legal world, this isn't designed as a stepping stone to becoming a paralegal or solicitor. Instead, it's a rewarding opportunity to shine as a vital part of our Charities Team.

About You

Organisation and attention to detail are key, as you'll assist with compliance tasks such as ID checks, sanctions checks, and quarterly audits. Financial administration will also form part of your role, where you'll support billing processes and liaise with clients and third parties to manage transactions. Communication is an essential part of the position, as you'll arrange meetings, manage travel arrangements, and act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

We're looking for someone with previous administrative experience, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work proactively and independently. You're comfortable managing your workload, while also working collaboratively as part of a supportive and dynamic team. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Joining VWV means being part of a firm that values its people as much as its work. You'll benefit from a supportive, inclusive culture, the chance to work with high-profile clients, and access to tailored training and development opportunities to help you grow in your career.

If you're enthusiastic about making a positive impact in the charity sector and want to be part of a firm that values collaboration, diversity, and innovation, we'd love to hear from you.
