Legal Secretary

We're looking for an experienced legal secretary to join our Commercial Property team in London. You'll add tremendous value by supporting our lawyers in London and Watford with a range of secretarial and administrative duties. This is a full-time, hybrid role where you will benefit from time with the team in our buzzing London office for 2-3 days per week and the flexibility of home working for the remainder of the week.

You will be joining a thriving and busy commercial property team to support partners, lawyers and a Paralegal in delivering the best service to banking and financial services clients.

Responsibilities are broad and encompass anything from compiling post-completion bibles to performing land registry searches and opening files. You will be welcomed into the team and play a vital part in their success; your ideas will be valued and there will be plentiful opportunities to get more involved in client and team initiatives such as liaising with clients and attending events with the team.

You'll be responsible for handling document preparation, billing and reporting for clients, you'll also look after post-completion land registry registrations. 

You'll need to obtain official copies from the Land Registry, produce search results, confirm bank details with law firms, and assist other teams in dating, scanning, and sending out important documents.  You will also be responsible for sending out documents for signing electronically through the DocuSign platform.  Collaboration is a key element of this role, and you'll provide secretarial support to multiple lawyers and assist other secretaries with workloads when needed.

So Who Are We Hoping Will Apply?

  • You'll have at least two years' experience in a secretarial or administrative role within a legal environment, specialising in real estate.
  • You will be confident in performing land registry searches, opening files and post-completion administrative duties.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effectively interacting with clients and colleagues. Your calm, professional phone manner will be a fantastic first impression for our clients.
  • Organisational skills are crucial, as you'll be required to manage your workload independently and prioritise tasks in a busy setting.
  • Flexibility and a collaborative mindset are also important, as you may need to assist other teams when necessary. We are a firm of team players, and you'll enjoy pitching in alongside your team to get the job done well.
  • You enjoy taking initiative, learning to new things and taking ownership for various tasks.
  • Experience in document production and adhering to the firm's quality standards is required, along with familiarity with legal software systems.
  • Attention to detail is paramount, and you'll certainly need to be comfortable working with spreadsheets and numbers.
