Paralegal

Our ETT team deal with all aspects of estate administration and trust management as well as advising on lifetime planning, Wills and LPAs. They also have a growing court of protection practice. A number of the team are members of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and recognised as specialists in this field.  The team forms part of the wider nationally recognised Private Client department  spanning across all four office locations and are ranked in the top tier of Legal 500.

Partner, and Head of the Private Client Department, Michelle Rose and Partner, Leila Goodarzi  are looking to recruit a Paralegal to join Leila's team based in Bristol.

Is This the Role for You?

A paralegal role at VWV provides the perfect building blocks for future trainee solicitors looking to gain experience ahead of starting a training contract or even to assist with applications for training contracts themselves, and that's due to the variety of legal disciplines you'll be exposed to.  We're proud of our record in transitioning a good proportion of our existing paralegals into trainee solicitors.

In this role you'll be invaluable by taking ownership of the legal administration tasks to allow our lawyers to focus on business generation.  You'll assist with the production of marketing materials and seminar notes, maintain Lexcel compliant files and assist with the drafting of client correspondence and reports.  You'll become familiar with the firm's compliance procedures for letters of engagement, file opening, money laundering, archiving, billing and client accounts.  And you'll get to brush up on those all-important client facing skills as you play a key part in gathering relevant information from clients to assist the lawyers with their enquiries.

Where Will I Be Working?

At VWV we have a truly unique and engaging culture that we hold dear. We work hard but we also love to have fun and we recognise that it's the social interaction between us that really embeds our culture. Whilst this unusual time has proved we can work effectively as a business from home, we're currently working to a hybrid model of office and home working.  We have a "grown-up" working culture and try to be flexible and agile in the way we work. The Private Client department are predominately office based, therefore the expectation is that you will be based in Bristol office, Monday to Friday with the occasional home working day.

Why Choose Us?

There are so many reasons to stop and explore VWV further.  We're known for our friendly and welcoming culture where teamwork and collaboration are key.  There's no pigeon-holing or glass ceilings here, just a professional yet relaxed culture where you can finally be yourself.  We invite you to watch this short video on the right-hand side to see what our own people have to say about us.

We're striving to be an inclusive employer, to create a workplace and environment that promotes and values diversity, where everyone, regardless of background, can reach their full potential. Contact our recruiter to discuss any adjustments needed so we can make this the best possible candidate experience for you.

Who Are We Hoping Will Apply?

You'll have some form of legal academics, whether that be a law degree, law conversion, LPC or SQE. You may have some previous paralegal experience which will naturally help you transition into the role more smoothly but is by no means essential as we're much more interested in those all-important soft skills.

It's a busy role so you'll be highly organised, an excellent all-round communicator with proficient IT skills using Microsoft Office, someone who's motivated by the team's successes ahead of their own and your calm, professional phone manner will be a fantastic first impression for our private clients. And whilst not essential your previous experience of litigation will put your application to the top of the pile.
