Our Real Estate Team understand the challenges that come with real estate and commercial property transactions.  Their client base range from banks estate managers, developers and investors who deal with commercial property on a daily basis to new clients renting space for the first time real estate financing and they all need legal advice from experienced solicitors that's focused and practical.

Commercial Property Partner Joe Kwok now has an exciting new opportunity for a Paralegal to join his team in Watford.

Is This Role for You? 

A paralegal role at VWV provides the perfect building blocks for future trainee solicitors looking to gain experience ahead of starting a training contract or even to assist with applications for training contracts themselves and that's due to the variety of legal disciplines you'll be exposed to.  We're proud of our record in transitioning a good proportion of our existing paralegals into trainee solicitors.

This is the perfect role to brush up on your real estate experience as under the guidance of a qualified solicitors. You'll be dealing with estate management, local authorities, property related insolvency matters, lease renewals, Landlord and Tenant issues and Land Registry applications.  You'll play a crucial role managing and tracking deadlines of cases and transactions and develop those all-important drafting skills and client facing skills as you liaise with clients over the phone and help with the preparation of client correspondence and reports.  And if that's not enough, you'll also become familiar with the firm's case management system and compliance procedures for letters of engagement, file opening, money laundering, archiving, billing and client accounts.

Therefore, the expectation is that you will be based in the Watford office Monday to Friday with the occasional home working day.

Who Are We Hoping Will Apply?

You'll have some form of legal academics, whether that be a law degree, law conversion, LPC or SQE. And you may have some previous paralegal experience which will naturally help you transition into the role more smoothly but is by no means essential as we're much more interested in those all-important soft skills.  

It's a busy role so you'll be organised, an excellent all-round communicator with proficient IT skills using Microsoft Office and someone who's motivated by the team's successes ahead of their own.  And whilst there's no doubt that time spent in a commercial law firm of this size will naturally enhance your commercial acumen, we love to see applications from graduates whose commercial awareness is instinctive so if that's you, then we really want to hear from you.
