Paralegal
Real Estate Knowledge Paralegal, Birmingham
Our Real Estate team brings together specialists across Commercial Property, Property Litigation, Planning & Infrastructure, Construction and Residential Conveyancing, supporting clients locally and nationally across a broad range of sectors. This role sits at the heart of the department, working closely with the Real Estate Knowledge Lawyer, as well as our Marketing and Knowledge Management teams, to ensure high-quality, up-to-date resources and effective knowledge sharing across the practice. By helping to develop know-how materials, training and precedents, you'll play a key role in supporting fee earners at all levels and contributing to the continued success of the department.
Is This the Role for You?
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining legal knowledge with organisation, collaboration and clear communication. You'll be involved in a varied mix of work, from drafting and maintaining client-facing know-how materials and legal updates, to helping co-ordinate training sessions, webinars and department-wide knowledge initiatives. Working alongside the Knowledge Lawyer, you'll support the smooth running of knowledge and training activity across the Real Estate team, while also having the chance to get involved in research, precedent development and, where appropriate, client projects. The role offers real scope to build expertise, develop confidence and take ownership as you grow within the team.
VWV places a huge emphasis on the progression and development of its employees, and you'll be fully supported to settle into the role whilst also being given the opportunity, over time, to become more autonomous and take on additional responsibilities to further your career development.
Who We're Looking For.
Perhaps you're a recent graduate looking to gain experience towards studying SQE and securing a training contract, or you could be someone working towards a CILEx qualification already committed to a career in law. We're open to candidates from a range of educational backgrounds who can demonstrate an interest in real estate work and the right transferable skills.
You'll be comfortable managing your own workload, prioritising tasks and working calmly and professionally when things are busy. Strong written skills, attention to detail and confidence using Microsoft Word are essential, as is a professional and approachable manner when dealing with colleagues and, where required, clients. While prior knowledge of real estate or regulatory work is helpful, what matters most is your enthusiasm, willingness to learn and ability to work proactively as part of a collaborative team.
Where Will I Be Working?
VWV supports hybrid working and equips all paralegals for home working. However, for our early talent, we believe it's crucial for development to gain as much exposure to office life as possible. That said, we're happy to discuss individual circumstances and hybrid arrangements as part of the assessment process.
