Secretary

We have an opportunity for a Legal Secretary to join our Commercial Property team in our Watford office. This role offers the chance to support a busy and high-performing team, where your organisation, attention to detail, and proactive approach will have a real impact on the smooth running of client matters.

Is This Your Next Career Move?

As a Legal Secretary, you'll provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support to our Commercial Property team, ensuring matters run efficiently from start to finish.

Your role will be varied and hands-on, including document production and formatting, managing BigHand dictations, coordinating diaries, and supporting effective case management. You'll be involved throughout the lifecycle of matters — from opening files and conducting conflict checks through to completion and archiving.

You'll work closely with fee earners to prepare and collate transaction documents, assist with property-specific processes such as completion and post-completion tasks, and liaise with internal teams including accounts on billing, payments, and financial queries.

Alongside this, you'll help organise meetings, manage post and inboxes, and ensure all documentation is produced accurately and in line with the firm's standards. Collaboration is key, and you'll support colleagues across the team to keep workloads running smoothly.

If you're looking for a varied and important role within a supportive team environment, this could be the opportunity for you.

Who Are We Hoping Will Apply?

Are you highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident managing a busy workload? We're looking for someone with excellent IT and document formatting skills, alongside strong communication abilities and a proactive approach.

You'll have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word, with the ability to produce accurate, professional documentation efficiently. Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise are essential, as you'll be supporting multiple fee earners.

Previous secretarial or PA experience is highly desirable, and experience within a legal environment would be a real advantage. Familiarity with systems such as BigHand, iManage, or other case management tools would be beneficial, though not essential.

Most importantly, you'll be a calm, professional team player who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and building strong working relationships.

Our secretarial opportunities provide the perfect entry point for those wanting to work in the legal sector but not wanting to qualify as a solicitor, as well as those exploring a longer-term career across our wider business services teams. If you're intending to qualify, we'd encourage you to register for our paralegal talent pool and keep an eye out for paralegal opportunities, as we're actively shaping these roles to provide exposure to the core legal support skills that form a strong foundation for future solicitors.
