Tax Lawyer
A fantastic role here at VWV! This is an opportunity for a tax lawyer with a broad skillset looking to join a small and professional team that is very much in growth mode. At last a role where you can see the interplay between a variety of different taxes within the areas of corporate, real estate and private client. Whilst our team is based in London, provided you can work from one of our four offices for a couple of days a week, then we'd love to hear from you.
About Us
We are a UK Top 100 law firm with offices in Bristol, London, Birmingham, and Watford, employing close to 600 people. For a firm of our size, you'll be struck by our close-knit and friendly culture. We're just not like other firms! We believe in integrity and authenticity - in each one of us being ourselves both in our interactions with each other as well as with our clients.
We are recognised for delivering exceptional legal services across a variety of sectors and building lasting relationships with our clients. Our collaborative, client-focused approach ensures that we provide tailored and effective legal solutions, while fostering a dynamic and supportive work environment.
The Role
If you're fed up with being pigeon-holed in one area of tax and are looking to restore breadth of work to your day and versatility to your skillset, then this role could be just perfect for you.
We are looking for a tax lawyer with an enquiring mind and strong attention to detail to join our small and dedicated team led by Partner, Alex Ueno-Park. This role offers the rare opportunity to work across a very broad range of tax matters including real estate tax, private client tax such as inheritance tax planning and CGT, and corporate tax, supporting M&A transactions and corporate restructures. Here at VWV our team works closely with a wide variety of clients such as individuals, OMBs and larger corporates. What does this mean for you? That no two days are the same and that you'll enjoy putting into practice your strong interpersonal skills to advise clients from many different backgrounds and sectors such as healthcare, education, charities, technology and many others.
What do our clients say?
As always, the litmus test of our performance as lawyers is the feedback we receive from our clients. Here's a snapshot below:
CCO of a leading commercial and corporate Business Development firm: "[The tax] report and advice was exactly what we needed. Very good, thank you."
Group COO of an international Digital Consultancy. "Alex was incredibly friendly, responsive, and solution oriented…Everyone was really trying to be helpful."
About You
Although we are open minded about experience for this role, it is most likely to suit someone at solicitor, associate or senior associate level and we would welcome applications from tax lawyers with at least around 2 or more years of post-qualified experience in this area.
As regards your background, it may be that you've worked in private practice for years or perhaps you're currently inhouse and seeking a change of culture. Either way, if your expertise includes some corporate tax and you're looking for a role that offers both variety and challenge, then we'd love to hear from you. As a capable tax lawyer you will need strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and sound commercial awareness. You'll be alive to the opportunity of working in a small team and excited by the progression prospects it offers. The breadth of matters within this role and your ability to work so closely with our Partner mean you can really accelerate your development as you strive to become a trusted business advisor within your field. Whilst we'd love you to have gained exposure to a broad array of work, we recognise that everyone's career journey is individual to them. As such, if you feel your expertise is not as broad as you'd like but you're still keen to be considered for the role, please do not hesitate to contact us or apply (see below).
