Trust Administrator
Here at VWV, our private client offering lies at the very heart of our success and is central to our ongoing recruitment strategy.
As such, we now find ourselves looking for a bright and engaging Trust Administrator to come on board our Directory rated team and undertake this thriving area of work, based in our Birmingham office and with an ideal start date of February 2026.
About us
We're a Top 100, full-service UK law firm with just over 500 employees. With 4 offices in Bristol, Birmingham, London and Watford, you'll be struck by our close-knit and friendly culture. We believe in integrity and authenticity- in each one of us being ourselves both in our interactions with each other as well as with our clients. With a reputation not just for the quality of our work, but also for the qualities of our people, we strive to recruit individuals who are proactive and passionate about what they do and able to demonstrate humour and humility in equal measure.
The role
Our private wealth offering is widely recognised by the Directories, with the Chambers HNW guide (2025) ranking lawyers in the team from every one of our office locations.
Working as part of our Estates, Tax Planning and Trusts (ETT) team and reporting into our Tax and Trust Manager, Elaine Morgan, you'll be preparing trust accounts and personal/trust and estate tax returns, preparing them for review, and conducting peer reviews. You'll also handle the day-to-day trust matters for our clients, including high-net-worth individuals, trusts and estates. This will involve making sure engagement letters are set up, and that fees are agreed and invoiced correctly. You'll work closely with the wider ETT team to help manage client affairs, and pitch in with things like estate accounts, capital gains calculations, and inheritance tax computations.
Given that tax and trusts work involves supporting the ongoing work within our wider private client department, you'll naturally find the role to be sociable and interactive. You'll have a love of team endeavour and enjoy working collaboratively with your colleagues across the offices, helping to provide our clients with the seamless "one stop shop" service for which, here at VWV, we're renowned.
This role offers the opportunity for plenty of client interaction, so if you feel you're lacking that at the moment and would relish this in a new role, this could be the perfect fit for you.
About you
You could currently be working as a Trust Administrator or in a similar role within a law firm or accountancy practice, and now you're looking for the next step in your career. Or, perhaps you've gained experience in accounts and tax returns and would like to take a slightly different direction in your work. Either way, if you bring a solid background in tax or trust administration and have a passion for delivering great service, we'd love to hear from you. Experience is important, but your enthusiasm, drive, and willingness to learn are what will truly set you apart.
We anticipate the successful candidate will have completed, or be working towards, their AAT qualification with a real passion for qualifying in the future. We're committed to everyone's progression and development here at VWV, so we're open to supporting you with qualification if you think this is the right path for you.
We recognise that each one of us is an individual. We're passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. If you require any special adjustments to be made in order to be considered for this role, then please do call us (see contact details in the "How to Apply" section below), as we will be happy to do so.
Where will I be working?
At VWV we have a truly unique and engaging culture that we hold dear. We work hard but we also love to have fun and we recognise that it's the social interaction between us that really shapes our culture. Whilst we operate a hybrid model of working, for this role we'd like you to work from our Birmingham office for at least 3 days of the week, with some flexibility to travel to our London office on an ad-hoc basis. In this way, you'll benefit first-hand from our warm and friendly culture as well as facilitate cross referral opportunities from your colleagues in other teams. We're of course happy to discuss any specific requirements of hybrid working with candidates on an individual basis.
How to apply?
Whilst we're renowned for our transparent and welcoming culture, we know that making the next career move can be daunting. We've all been there!
